A2J Week 2019: Data & Design Symposium

To mark Access to Justice Week, the Law Foundation of Ontario and the Law Society of Ontario are jointly hosting a symposium on data and design in the justice sector. The program will feature a panel discussion on building a better justice system through innovation and design, followed by a workshop exploring the current realities and opportunities surrounding data sharing across the justice sector.

This program contains 3 hours of Professionalism Content.

Panel: Justice, Technology & Design (10:30am-12pm)

This panel discussion will showcase innovative approaches to service delivery and evaluation in the justice sector and advance the conversation on building a better justice system through technology and design thinking.

Panelists Include:

  • Julie Mathews, Executive Director, CLEO
  • Prof. Suzanne Stein, OCAD University
  • Nye Thomas, Executive Director, Law Commission of Ontario

Workshop: Leveraging Data for a Better Justice System (1-2:30pm)

This workshop seeks to identify the current realities and opportunities surrounding data sharing and integration across the legal sector. It is difficult to measure impact in the legal sector for a myriad of reasons. This workshop will explore current approaches to data sharing and the benefits of leveraging data in facilitating access to justice.
