The goal of this cluster will be to systemize the collection of demographic data of justice users with a focus on speciality legal clinic clients. Informed by the work of the Colour of Poverty – Colour of Change campaign and associated United Way agencies, this cluster will bring together Social Justice Tribunals Ontario and a range of clinic practitioners with links to diverse communities through their existing access to justice work.
The goal will be to examine current data collection processes and then develop improved and adaptable tools to capture demographic information about justice system users. This work will ultimately produce information that demographically specific or community based speciality legal clinics can use to inform their programming. This cluster will provide evidence from which to enhance inclusion and culturally appropriate responses to racialized and/or marginalized populations while considering the language needs of French and other non-English speakers.
